Hey Guy's, I'm looking for an AMC 401ci long and/or short block for my Chewy-II project, I have enough body parts and a complete frame to build another Commando using a set of Dodge Dana 60's with out board mounted 3 inch leaf springs on a strapped and plated C104 frame. I'll also need the flex plate and vibration damper for the 401 motor, I'll be using a Spicer 20 T-case, AMC Turbo 400 transmission, and Holley Pro-injection 900CFM unit which I already have.

Too bad you arent on the West coast, i found 2 in jeeps complete rigs for under $400 in the last month and i have a spare virgin low miles 401 in my shop that i popped $450 for that i would probably cough up.

Good Luck

Hey Dusty, What kind of vehicles are the 401's in, if you could take some pictures and PM to me? Or if you could get some phone numbers and PM and/or e-mail them to me.
If they are worth while I may be interested in the whole rig, if not I know some people out there that could pull the drive line and ship them to me. http://www.bulltear.com/forum/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif http://www.bulltear.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_scratch.gif http://www.jeepspeak.com/phpbb2/images/smiles/icon_furious3.gif http://www.bulltear.com/forum/images/smiles/eusa_naughty.gif http://www.bulltear.com/forum/images/smiles/eusa_snooty.gif http://www.bulltear.com/forum/images/smiles/eusa_pray.gif http://www.jeepspeak.com/phpbb2/images/smiles/blahblah.gif http://www.jeepspeak.com/phpbb2/images/smiles/icon_yup.gif

Hi there. All I can tell you about the motor is that it ran when it was parked quite a few years ago......Not sure how good. My brother-in-law tried to start it a few months back but the starter turned over very slow. It is missing a voltage regulator and battery so we're not sure if it runs. Engine is free that's about all I can tell you. It's never been rebuilt so I'm sure it would definitely need a rebuild or could use as a core..... I'm going to ask my husband about draining the oil to check for any particles, coolant, etc....Thanks

Carmen"

Thats an email i got back from the lady who was selling one in Lakeview Or. just north of california stateline. Email her she mayu still have it, that was a month or so ago.

The Jeep Truck that i saw was in Santa Rosa, it is now in the Windsor pick and pull wrecking yard.(the guy couldnt Sell it) but last i heard the motor was still in there two weeks ago.

Here is some info on a 390 that i heard about too.
