V8 + auto trans = stumped

I'm at an impass in my attempt to install a 74 304 and an 84 tf 999 into my 83 scrambler, i can't seem to find a flex plate and torqueconverter and am not sure if they will work together if i do. Anyone do this swap?

hmm try 4wd.com for the flexplate the torque converter must come from a 999 in a jeep or amc car, chrysler used 999 TC's with ring gears on em.

I believe they used the 998/999 in Eagles behind the 4.2. The flexplate from a 4.2 will bolt to the 304, but the 4.2 is balanced neutral, so you'd have to have it rebalanced for the 304. That shouldn't be too hard or expensive if you have the original flywheel/flexplate from the 304.

Hmm, thanks guys, I tried 4wd, no response yet, J&W wants $125! for just the flex plate, I'll keep looking. May go back to the 258 instead. Rebalancing is an option but not anywhere locally (2 choices, autozone and napa - napa didn't know what either part was for).
