What is the function of the dished metal spacer inside the timing cover? Forgot to put it back in when I assembled my gine.

Down on the crank? It's major function is to keep the front seal in the timing cover from being overwhelmed with oil and leaking. Secondary, it helps fling oil at the timing gears.

I did the same thing :(: . I pulled it apart and put it on, the front has leaked every since.

Son of a gun! I was hoping that everyone would say its not important, so I wouldn't have to take it apart again.

Well if it will make you feel better,

No you dont have to put it back in.

Now do you feel better, good get to work on cleaning up the oil you spilled all over the drive way be cause that thingy is missing and you blingy blingyed your front seal.

Is "blingy blingyed" bad then?

No, i was being a smart ass and felt like typing blingyed, it just sounded good plus i never claimed to have all my marbles, but you do need to tear the thing apart and throw the oil slinger in otherwise you will be dumping all sorts of kitty litter on your driveway.
