Hi Pinion 30

The newer XJ's and YJ's run a Hi Pinion 30 but the pumpkin is on the wrong side. Has anyone blown the tubes out and installed CJ 30 tubes and axels in them? I know the pinion shaft is shorter, but are there any other differences?

Yep, there is one difference, you can't get as low a gear set for the HP D30 as you can for the LP D30. A member of our club who is a shop owner, has one with early CJ tubes on it. He was gonna put it under his CJ-3A, until he went to find the gearset he wanted, and they don't make it for the HP D30. BTW, he wanted 5.38s, they don't make them.

That is the one drawback that I know of.
