Looks cool and seems it would be good for the 4x4 dirt track racing they do up here in the PNW

What's different about this from a CJ-2a?
From what I see, it's Identical to my '47
(except the blue one, which appears to have a modified wheel base)

I actually own one in my fleet....mine was an early kit, the early kits used a actual M-38 body and a box frame with the VW driveline and front suspension, most of the ones you have pictured there are the later ones, they were a fiberglass body that was designed to fit right on the VW pan, rather than a solid frame and steel body like the one I have...
it's fun, with the VW full independent suspension you can really fly down the dirt and rocky trails, of course it will not rock crawl or do any real nasty mud but it really holds it's own on any trail that you would take a stocker down, considering it's only rear wheel drive it does better than you would think...it's pretty light to if it get's stuck, a few guys can pick it up...
the hardcore Jeep guys hate it and the VW guys think it's the coolest kit there is...It's kind of funny when you think about it, we were at war with the Germans when that style jeep was out and it's a mix of the two, german driveline and american looks...... :?:
