hey there, does the AMC oil pump have enough oomph to push oil through a cooler. My 401 is .040 over and always runs a little hot and oil pressure goes down with it. @ 190 deg. with 10-30 oil @5200 rpm theres 42 psi.

yes their is enough pressure...you shouldnt be running that oil at this time of year.

Since Milodon is taking so long with their pickup adaptors we are going to be producing them and will integrate a pre-lube setup remote oil filter and oil cooler all in one very soon

last nigh I put in amsoil synthic 20-50 now I get 62-68 psi at 5500rpm while the motor is hot, still think I need a oil cooler or not, ohya oil psi is at 25 now while a 650rpm idle, thanks for the info

Newbie question:

What oil thickness for the summer? Thinner in the winter and thicker in hot seansons? Is it ok to run 20w50 in if the engine is not worn? I guess it just comes from me running 20w50 because my engine is shot... anybody?

The research weve done and by lubrication technologies inc. says a summer blend shall be consistent with its viscosity. This is true in all but certain cases. NO do not run 20w50 in the winter. Running a 20w motor oil period will open your oil filter bypass on startup. 15w is the highest safest viscosity you should be running at summer temps.

I know it's a bit of a daft question, but where does the hose connect to the engine to feed the oil to and from the cooler? Is there a connection kit of some kind?

Thanks

Aldo welcome aboard :t: \\
Since this post we have indeed made a part that replaces the entire oil filter adaptor and allows the filter relocated and a oil cooler and pre-lube system. Its part 626 and 626-c (ceramic coated) which is slated later in september

Thanks for the advice (and for the welcome).

I'll be sure to add one of those to my shopping list.

Yeah it was a bit of a find! I really wanted the AMC to keep in spirit with the Jeep.

Mind you when I got it from the breaker, it had had rats nesting in it for about 5 years!! Still got good compression mind you, must have been the rat crap!!!

Parts are a little hard to come by over here mind!!! My shipping bills are a little pricey!!!

Ya' know, if people in UK can avoid crossing over to the dark side (chevy transplant), I really don't think anyone here in the States has an excuse to do it 8) :t:
