Hey Guys
I have a Amc 360 in my waggy and I was wondering if anyone has used this cam; Performer-Plus Camshaft Kit Part No: 2132. I am considering it for when I rebuild my motor. These are the parts I know I will use. preformer 2131 intake and Edelbrock Performer Series Carbs Part No: 1406. Does anyone have any experiance with the preformer series heads.

You would have to search the wordl over to find someone with experience with the heads, they just came out. From the specs they increase compression - cooling - and flow.........nice little heads if you ask me

I have the performer cam kit and manifold on my CJ, running with Howell EFI. MC is right, it's a low end only cam, runs out of grunt by around 4000 RPM. It works great on my rock crawler though.

thanks guys. What cam would you guys suggest. I am not going to build a hi performance engine. I just want to improve my power and driveability a little. low in is nice but i want a litle more even performance out of the cam over the rpm range.

I believe what you are looking for is something like the Summit 8600... I'm gonna give it a try myself if a few weeks..

I HAVE DRIVEN A 304 WITH BOTH CAMS, PREVIOUSLY MY MOTOR HAD A PERFORMER CAM, INTAKE, AND 1405 CARB NICE SETUP. JUST RECENTLY REBUILT AND MC TALKED ME INTO TRYING A 8600 FROM SUMMIT. HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT AND HAVEN'T SEEN ANY LACK-O-POWER COMPARED TO THE PERFORMER MAY BE A BIT BETTER. I ONLY HAVE 400 MILES ON THE REBUILD SO ITS STILL BREAKING IN HAVEN'T SEEN OVER 4000RPM'S YET OR FULL COMPRESSION. HOPE IT HELPS.

Thanks for the info. are you saying that you don't see much differance betwen the two cams. The 8600 has a bit more power?

Thanks

YEA THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.
JUST TURNED 500 MILES LAST WEEK, IT DIED AND THE CAM GEAR IS CHEWED UP! ........SUCKS........ I THINK IT WAS FROMM MISMATCHED GEARS DIST. WAS NEW AND MY MECHANIC PUT THE OLD GEAR ON . BUT IF YOU USE THE SUMMIT CHECK IT BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN TALK WITH MC AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK. COULD SAVE YOU ! CHECK FOR FLASHING IN THE OIL HOLES AND MKE SURE THEY ARE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
