Looking good! So do you mind giving more detail into your buildup? I am saving my pennies to finish mine this spring. Just a random thought, but has anyone ever tried to powdercoat an engine block instead of painting? Anywho, looking good!!! :lo1l:

Hot damn fuzz!! That thing is looking great! The only improvement I could see is not to paint the lifter valley...that paint eventually comes off if you dont change your oil right and it becomes acidic and it will clog a filter really quick. Might be time to plug that oil filter bypass. Other than that it is one sweet looking block!

The only improvement I could see is not to paint the lifter valley...

that is elec. motor insulating paint used inside elec. motors to keep them insulated from shorting out

So how many parts were you able to use from the last rebuild? They were fairly new and not run for very long - - if memory serves me :lo1l:

Why paint and not Glyptol or something similar??

Mudrat
Anybody got a good 360-401 block they wanna part with?

I'll keep my ears open if your serious, Actually i think there is a 401 down at Pick N Pull here in a Cherokee, I might just be ambitious enough to go pull it one of these days.

Starting to nab these things from time to time. :lo1l: Trying to throw a few in the barn.

Mud, we can yank a 360 from over at the U Wrench It for less than $150 if I remember prices correctly! Lets do it! :lo1l:
Jack
PS-You ever figure that wiring out?

360 for $150 - long or short block? May be the only way I can get one, but I need to un 8) the wiring in this one first.

Nope on the wiring - Rob was over Sat and we were both scratching our heads. Continuity in the starting wiring, but now the E-warning light doesn't even come on??? But the battery turns the starter when we attached the jumper cables. :-| :-|

Santa Rosa. Missoula is the squaller zone, if it isnt a 350 they threw it away that or in the case of a 401 they want 800 bucks for a cracked short block :(:

Just to make you jealous, i have a 40one in the shed that i bought as a core SB :!: (paid way too much, motor was dry fired motor swallowed something), but its a .20/.20 crank that'll have to go .30 and a .30 block that's got some taper but still has cross hatch, i was going to run it, had fresh cam bearings put in. Rebuilt the stud heads & thats where i stopped, its still in the shed, havent been motivated enough to put it together yet. Especially since i bought the other virgin 401 and have since put together my EFI motor. :lo1l: and have been working on a frame up build on the scrambler
111!!!

When I get these 2 finished, I'll start into that routine too - gathering parts "just in case"
Wait!! I already started - 2 axles, a D300 case and 300 lbs of spare "stuff" laying around

Funny how that works you collect and collect for years then when it comes down to it you have $10000 in parts and pieces bling bling accumulations that over time you didnt realized had added up to that much and still no running Heep 111!!! Sick bunch that we Jeep freaks are. Its better than buying off the lot though.

I believe it was for a long block if I am not mistaken. I will take a look next time I swing by there. No days off this week, so might be sometime next week.
