69 AMX This is fresh from the paint shop. The exterior in about 90% complete now. The engine should be running again this weekend (dizzy gear failure, long story). Just got the sound deadener inside, so I can install the interior.

Cool little bugger you have there! So when are you dropping in a 360 or 401? :t: I do like the idea of driving lights. Cut out the holes, weld in some round pipe/steel to make it all flush, regrind it and have it chromed. Might be more work that you are willing to do though. Just a thought!

I would love to drop in a 360 but its to much work for what i really want. Something simple and reliable. I dont want to do the trany and the rear. besides if i do i would want an O.D. trans and a rear that will hold up to all the H.P. and rear disk brakes...etc. I want to keep the I6 ad just build from there. Just something strong and i not really into changing the head either. But i will be adding a few things like the chubby dist and alternator. even a cold air system. Headers and a new intake.

Heres my car I always wanted. A '73 Javilen AMX 304 3 speed with a glass hood. I bought it in '94 and haven't done nothing with it yet other than swaping in a 360 T10 with a lakewood bellhousing. It dynoed 232hp to the rear wheels, after sitting for 8 years with the 360 in it. Clutch linkage issue I think. Just never got to it yet.

hope to get it to the track this year once and see what it will do. I have a 401 block waiting for my truck pistons and crank. My narrowed 9" Ford is in the tool shed. Mix with this car and I can see the red & blue cherries if I drive it in town.

Maybe I'll go for max milage so I can actually drive the damn thing whenever I do get it done.

Found it on Craigslist a couple of years ago. 96 year old man kept it in garage since new. He died and the family didn't want it. Decided to give it to Goodwill. Friend of family stopped them and bought it cheap then sold it to me for a profit.

Didn't realize that I didn't post of a pic of the AMX :) Unfortunately the 360 threw a rod at 20 miles, putting a hole in the Milodon pan, so now I'm piecing things back together and hope to have the engine back in over the winter. At least it sounds strong, even on 7 cylinders

Went from:

Believe it or not, the block only suffered a couple of small chunks down out of the opposing bores on the bottom out of the compression range. But I need new rods, pistons, bearings and a crank. And a new exhaust valve on one of the Eddy heads.....

It's actually Plum Pearl Metallic. I bought the paint from Summit believe it or not. Acrylic Urethane Enamel, Single stage. If I show different angles it will show my screw ups! Bought another gallon and repainting in the spring. I learned a great deal about prepping by painting this myself. Thanks for the compliment!
