Younger brother is looking to cam his 2.5L FI baby motor (even smaller than my 4.2!!! He's tucked away in the woods of TN somewhere and doesn't get on the net much (not even to answer his email)

So - what are the options for this FI mini-motor??? He said Chrysler used to have a mild cam, but they don't make'm anymore and he didn't know the specs. I haven't found one looking on the web for a little while.

'Nother question - is the 2.5TJ and a 93 -2.5YJ the same motor?
Thanks

Mopar Performance lists 5 cams for the 2.5 litre.

had a mopar cam in my dads 91 YJ. Only problem which was a known possibility before we installed it, is it created a miss at about 2200 rpm. We put on a MSD Digital 6 ignition, and it cleared it right up

Thanks guys - He's got the MSD ignition already. Got a link for the Mopar Performance parts? I keep getting back to the Jeep page and the only parts I saw were for 2003/4 model years? http://www.moparperformance.com/

Thanks, and G'night!!

All of the late YJ and Early TJ's ahd the same 4 banger. I believe the 04 and newer TJ's have a different 4 popper - same one as in the Neon's. Supposed to be really able to hop the new 4 bangers up quite a bit! I'll ask around for you though and see what I can dig up.

I just pulled up the 03 parts list for the Jeep and it's using the 2.4 and not the 2.5. Completely different animal.

That's gunna throw a wrench into things  He keeps telling me a 93 / 2.5 ... Guess I'll have to have him get me the numbers off hte block before I keep looking for squat!!

Easy to spot by the valve cover.
The 2.5 likes like a 4.0 wih 2 cylinders worth chopped off.
The 2.4 is s lot wider. The dual overhead cam kinda gives it away.
