Hey Guys
I'm putiing a 401 and t-18 in a 79 cj7 and the problem is the t-18 mount is a long way off on aligning with the cross member. The jeep I took this trans out of had the cross member moved way back and all thread welded to the outside of the frame to hold it. LOOKED LIKE CRAP. Any suggestions ??? 111!!! :-| #-o

On a 79 CJ, there would have been 4 threaded holes in the bottom of each frame rail to mount the skid plate. The 3 front holes were used if it had a T-150 3 speed, the 3 rear holes used if it had an automatic or T-18 (the skid mounted further back).

If the bolts or nuts have broken off or stripped in the frame, I've used a punch to knock the welded nut loose, then drilled thru the top of the rail and used a piece of all thread with a nut on both ends. If the body is off, you can drop a long bolt thru and weld the head at the top.
