I've never used Richmond gears. I always buy genuine Dana gears when I can get them, even if the cost is higher. I've set up 25-30 gear sets over the years, most being Dana, a few being Yukon. The only one I've ever had any trouble with is doing a set of Yukon 3.73s in an AMC20. I couldn't get a good pattern. Took it to a friend who runs a pro gear shop, it took him 1 1/2 hours to get a good compromise pattern, and he was only .003" from where I started.

I haven't driven the vehicle yet, hopefully they won't be noisy.

Thanks Bob, I was thinking the samething but needed some input, going w/original (dana).

I just picked up a set of axles (D-30 & D-44CJ) from a 86'CJ, ment condition w/new hardwear & new SOA perches for a buck 50 but the gears are 2.72's  . The bearings are all new so I just need to get the R&P's for both.

Thanks again, I'll check out the Dana price etc..

I just found out that Genuine Gear is made by Dana w/the same specs, it's like a generic take off of their gear but still using their (Dana) specs.
