just got my edelbrock heads today.there is bead blasting material all over them.this really ticks me off, after i paid so much for them.do i have to take them apart to clean them up or is there a better way maybe a ton of brake cleaner and compressed air.what do you think.

Are they full up heads with valve and all installed? Did you get them right from Edelbrock ?
If hte valves are installed, I would think you need to pull the valves and make sure all the grit is out of the guides and seals. Maybe take them to a head shop and have the dipped and cleaded up and if you got them right from Edelbrock, see if they'll refund you the cost to clean'm up.

That sucks. I know they are a chunk of change and you shouldn't have to do that.

What you are looking at is the casting sand media they use. It should just blow or wipe off

We got a Brand new head direct from Edelbrock that had a slightly cocked seat in it, like something got under it. They were bare heads though. They probably would have caught something like that while they were assembling yours. Makes you wonder...

i sent them an email.they told me to return them to the place i bought them.before they emailed me back i blew them out with air.they look clean but i am worried about stuff being in the guides and seals.i dont know if i want to take them back because i dont know how long it will take to recieve a new set.

got the heads apart.its a good thing i did it,there was about 4 or 5 little bb's on each valve stem.they are good to go now.on the lighter side of things i am going to pick up my block from first of the 3 machine shops it is going to today it is cleaned, cam bearings removed and freeze plugs knocked out.then it is going to a friend of mine to get bored 30 over and get the crank polished.after that the bottom end is off to get balanced.last week my ross pistons and scat rods cam in they are beautiful.im getting real exicited.cant wait.
