Anybody know if a hardtop from a 83 cjt will fit an 89 yj ??????? :-|

Physically, it will fit. The problem is with the liftgate. CJs had a separate spare tire carrier, the YJ tire carrier is bolted to the tailgate. On a YJ top, the liftgate is notched so you can open the tailgate before the liftgate, getting the spare out of the way. A CJ liftgate isn't notched, so you can't open the tailgate with the liftgate closed, and you can't open the liftgate first, because the spare tire is in the way. You could use it and leave the spare off. The liftgates are also designed differently, so they won't interchange between Cj and YJ tops.
