Got bored today and decided to make some box kites. I picked up 18 wooden dowels, a roll of masking tape and 4 kitchen trash bags. That's all you need!

Here is the finished kite:

It's 3 feet tall, 1 foot wide, and the cross beams are 3 feet long (length of the dowel from the hardware store. Just tape it together! The string cost $2.79, so it really only costs $4 to make this kite. Better than $$$ from a toy store and it's fun to make with kids if you have any. Or in my case - you mentally never matured past age 11. I tied some glow sticks in it last night and went to try it out and there was absolutely no wind. :(: Oh well, I'll try it out sometime this weekend.
