MC, you may not remember but I was the guy you helped that the machine shop "welded" the plunger in the oil filter adaptor and also purchased 2 bad covers in-a-row. You were correct in your diagnosis and really know your stuff. If I did not say it enoungh before, thanks again! That time was quite the headache for me and everyone else.

A few questions.

1. Is the engine oil cooler 1/2" or 5/8" tube?
2. Is the engine oil filter relo plate nickel plated?

The 0.060" over 401 has about 10,000 miles now and running strong. I am simply considering the kit to try and gain some added cooling for the upcoming Summer; esp at our higher altitude. I really am resisting the electric water pump route and the associated hose routing (heater and by-pass) and bracketry (PS and Alt) to get the "extra" cooling.

Thanks.

WOW..Nice!!

You can order them in a .5" or .625 ID they come with a midplate right now. When we get caught up they will be nickel plated...

HOW DID U WIRE UP THE IGNITION I have a 401 in my 88yj with np435 and np208combo out of a ford i just cant figure out how to wire it up without a push botton there is a goofy purple wire on the ignition that i think gose to a nutral safty switch or needs to be grounded

AND DAM NICE JEEP :lo1l: :lo1l:

Do you have or did you have an Auto tranny in it? If so yes, the purple probably is the neutral safety sw wire. If you look at the stock starter solinoid there is a 3rd post terminal for the neutral safety sw. There are 2 kinds of Jeep starter relays, with and without the post for STD and Auto trannies. On my YJ I ran it and grounded it at the (STD) relay. But it's there if I want to use a 3 point relay (or put the STD relay in and install a cutout switch for a 'theft protection gizmo' #-o )

ihad the ax5 in it and what is std my dad seems to think that because it had the option of the auto that they threw in a nutral safety switch anyway

Went back to my original post. Easier I think.

Updated running gear; rear D60, 35 spline, 4:88s, 37" tires, 6" RC SUA kit, 10.7" rear discs, .... Replacing front axle next.

Not sure how to attach pics. Will try the car domain website again.

PS: Oh ya, new Bulltear 8 qt pan. Still holding 40 psi idle, hot oil pressure. Your midplate and remote filter also. Good stuff, thanks again.

PPS: Matt, those 2 rear bolts on the pan were a royal PITA to tighten, no room to sneak an extension through the gap with the trans cover or swivel socket with the AX15...any secrets? Did the 1/16th turn at a time trick w/ box wrench.

Really not "complaining."

Just looking to see if there was some alternative method I have not thought of.
