Has anyone else noticed that the Edelbrock shortys dont fit the Edelbrock aluminum heads? Did they not even try them? They arent even close!!! what a joke. I also had to sink the three head bolts near the exhaust ports so I could fit my headmans without hitting the head bolts they recomend(arp bolts w/hard washers).bolt on horsepower...yeah right.

:-| How did they not fit? Where the bolt holes not lining up or did they hit the head bolts, etc?

I have calmed down a bit now and will try to post pics soon. I have to open the bolt holes a bit, counterbore the 3 head bolts by the exhaust ports down the thickness of the washers(.125) and chamfer the edge of the head so the header tube doesnt hit. If you have steel heads they work fine(still have to open the holes up a bit)
fotunately I am a machinist and can take these to work to mod. you know, out of the box and into the machine shop bolt on horsepower.

Don't they share the same gaskets?

I have a set of the old Edelbrock TES headers which are essentially the same thing as the shorty headers but they include a two piece crossover pipe and go all the way to the cat.

They are off now for an engine replacement. I looked at them last night and I noticed they have a notch under the middle exhaust ports to clear the head bolt.

Is this where the clearance problem is? Do the shorty headers have this notch?

Chris had parts from the first run that edelbrock put out. I have some engine pics from his car I can post up. He had to take some off the heads for the first pipe. Other have run this combo without this issue. I believe it was a quality issue with the headers.

Very nice..I think you could have run better with a little more advance and a closed element air cleaner
