Ok, I need to know which AMC flexplates (or flywheels) will work for which engines. I have scads of 360 flexplates, a 360 flywheel, a 401 flexplate, and I have a 290 equipped car with no trans at all. I have two 727TF's a TH400 and a T-5 with bellhousing. I'm looking for the quickest way to get this car-a-drivin', preferably with what I already have laying around.

AMC V-8s are externally balanced. The flywheel and harmonic are specifically balanced for the displacement. You can swap a flywheel/flexplate between two 360s, but you can't put a 360 flywheel/flexplate on a 304 or 401 without having it rebalanced (physically, it will bolt on, but the vibrations could destroy the crank and clutch).

The 290 is another story. The back of the crank is different from the later (73 up?) cranks. You'll need to find a 290 part, or have a 72 or older 304, 343, 360, 390, or 401 part rebalanced.

The TH400 and TF727 flexplates are different also. You need the right flexplate for the tranny you'rs going to use is you go auto.
