I'm doing a DJ5 frame swap on my 63 CJ5. Figured I'd do a buggy spring conversion of my own. :-| I have an old set of springs I'm going to cut down and drill. Going to use a couple square u-bolts and a spring pad to mount them. Anybody done this and if so, what problems  might I run into? I would just buy the M.O.R.E. kit, but they don't make one for the earlier CJ5's. :-|

This is a real mix-match of parts so here goes
1. Frame is 1963 CJ5, broke it twice, so now it's transferred to a 79 DJ frame
2. Tub is 1976
3. front clip is 1967 Jeepster
4. Motor is Chev 229 V6 with propane, t-18, model 18 w/terra low
5. Rear axle is 63 Dana 44 w/custom full float kit and Power Lock
6. Front is mid 80's dana 30 w/disc and Loc-rite
7. 2 1/2" rancho springs, 2" over custom shackles
8. Warn 8000# winch
9. 35/13.5/R15 Toyo Open Country M/T on 10x15 on Rock Crawler Wheels w/2" offset
10.Custom skidz everywhere.
11. My own design swing out tire carrier
12. Red Paint in Viper Red(21 coats of hand rubbed Earl Schrieb laquer, applied in one shot).
13. Re-wired, what a pain
14. Need to re-think my Power Steering set-up

....and anything else I feel necessary.

OK, that does it - I'm getting a bigger shop!!!!! I can't even walk around my Jeep let alone have a roll-around stool

Nice build up, keep us informed of progress and problems.

Could be nicer if I had room for the CJ I'm dis-assembling and the 68 Rambler Americian I'm in the process of trying to build and space to put a new top-end on my Harley. Guess I can't have everything.
