I got my 401 pulled out of the J20 and was looking at the engine mounts. The truck had 30+ inches between frame rails. The Cj frame is several inches less. Is there a mount that will work? I don't have CJ engine mounts currently so can't really say. Do I leave the brackets bolted to the block or do I need different ones?

Thanks :?:

you might need to get new ones but mudrat or fuzz401 would know
the answer to this.

The mounts on the block usually work. And you could use 6cyl frame stands from a CJ-7 they just need a slight modification. Some other options would be to get factory mounts for a 1979ish CJ-7 that had a 304v8 stock, or you could get a heavy duty after market mount. I have used the mountain offroad set in the past and really like it. I also have an advance adapter set sitting in my garage and I am not sure how the mount is going to hold up. I guess I will see once i have it together. I like the MORE design better but this i got for a good price so figured i would try them

I have to disagree with Paul. The truck/Wagoneer mounts on the block WON'T work. CJ V8 mounts are taller. The frame half of the mount is the same on all CJs (V8 or I6) on the driver side, but the passenger side V-8 frame mount is unique to V8s.

I see complete factory V8 sets pop up on ebay once in a while. The engine mounts were still available from the dealer a while back. P/N J999147 (DR.) and J999148 (Pass.), about $40 each.

There's a set on ebay now, just to reference the difference in shape.

I broke the factory drivers side mount about once a year while rock crawling. I went with M.O.R.E. bombproof mounts and haven't looked back. Definitely worth the money.

Bob is correct with this. I ment to say Usually DONT work. For some reason my motor i pulled from a 1988 Grand Wagoneer Did work, all i had to do was modify my passenger side Frame mount to work.
