I need some help with this. 5 months ago I built a 401 for my Jeep. It runs great under 3000rpm. It breaks up under load over 3000rpm. It will rev to 5000+ sitting still. I have tried differant carbs, timing, and fuel pumps.
I am not sure on this but could it be the cam is too small? I ordered an engine kit that came with a clevite cam. The specs are 196 duration @.050 and .426" lift. Could this be my problem?
The only add ons the engine has is an Edelbrock performer intake and Edelbrock 750 carb. It was bored .030 but the pistons are 8.66:1 compression.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
