So Cal block, some bocks made in Califronia had red/orange color like that. So it could very well be the right color.

Pulled the 360 out of my 73 AMX to mock -up the pan with the bulge's.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c227/PKzJavelin/jan21-06stuff001.jpg
Trimed the one bulge down3/8 to 1/2 to fit starter.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c227/PKzJavelin/jan21-06stuff004.jpg
installed motor and trans, had to remove trans dip stick tube in order to
have the room for the pan bulge to clear the cross member. All works with stock exhaust.

Hey PKzJavelin looks pretty cool. What rear gears ya plannin on runnin' ?
Shootin' for maybe 450+ HP ? Gonna do a chassis dyno pull ?
Guess in California ya don't have to worry that it's gettin' bout time for snow.....

Has anyone else heard that it's "risky" to lift AMC motors by bolts in the ends of heads ?
On one end of the head castings there aint much casting around the bottom corner head bolt
and right behind that bolt head is a machined corner that can crack.
Or is this just some more ol' AMC fantasy folklore ?

If you need a new Heater Valve that goes in the rear Pass side of the intake,
there's a source in Ohio, or a supplier called Four Seasons may offer them.
That is if AMC stilled used a cable controlled heater valve in '72.
