Hey all, finally got this big dollar camera out of the box and tried taking some pics of the new frame going under Blown 7, forgive the quality for I build better mechanicals than taking pics like Ansel Adams. Anyway the 30 yrs old stock frame boxed and welded couldn't take the hits of major torque so the new Matkins Extreme frame II is going in. I would like to have done a 4 link suspension both front and rear but I'm not that smart yet. And a few pics of my homebuilt Full Float Dana 44 people have asked me about for years. Feel free to flame away or add some good ideas. Jeff

Understand that the engine, tranny and T case is all my old mock up running gear it makes it easy to rip, grind and burn without cooking all the good stuff.

Looks good other than the (lack of) paint and (lots-o-) rust
you going to put a mud deflector and bug screen on that monster?? :?

And I think a 4-link would look good on the Matkins !!! :t:

Like I said the real 401bottom and TH400 and BW 1339 are still sitting in the old frame all painted up and purity. I took just the manifold to blower assembly off to get all the new fuel lines and wiring set up correctly. This setup is just a 360 block with my spare trannyand T case. The grill and rusty cowl is just a old 7 body I cut after the second body mount from the firewall. I needed it to set and gage the firewall clearance. I'm still waiting for Matkins to send the new aluminum body. Does anyone know of a buy it and bolt it on (or weld it on)four link? I have seen 4 link calculators and such but it looks so complicated to build correctly. Especially around the offset Dana 44 pumpkin needed for the QT. Add spring rates and stuff and I am way confused. Jeff

Yeah I read the "mock-up" parts deal but wanted to give you a hard time anyway :?

As for the 4 link - may be best to find a wrecked TJ or something similar that has 44's and salvage the buckets and brackets for the coils.

The only "kits" I know of will come from a Google or DogpileSearch - no first hand info. These guys (https://catalog.foothilloffroad.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=325&osCsid=1f3e78cf39cfd02b5054b45f2274d873) have a 'Kit' but it looks like only the control arms and not the spring buckets, springs or shocks. I'll search more later - but today is a work day, and I don't mean on my Heep

that looks nice. Your best bet for a 4-link set up is a company out of Prospect, CT http://www.claytonoffroad.com/

Took another quick look - these guys may point you to a setup as well. This particular link (http://www.classicperform.com/Store/1947_59_Trucks/4754RSKP.htm) is for a 47-59 street truck

Oh, and pick up this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1557880557/qid=1136399319/sr=8-17/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i17_xgl14/103-9696479-6891821?n=507846&s=books&v=glance) book. My buddy had it and had lots of good overall information in it. Not really a 4WD book, but still a great resource for designing a suspension.

Hey all, I started a new buildup thread on Pirate, (to get more airtime, I'm such a publicity hog) Actually alot of peeps overthere like 401's, they just never seem to get them installed. I for one am very tired of small block Chevy's in Jeeps.

And I will include all I know about supercharging, (for what it's worth)
