I took my t-150 out of my 78 cj7 and replaced it with a th400. the problem is if i move the skid plate back to match the mount it not wide enough to reach the frame rails. Is there another stock crossmember for the th400 or is it fabrication time ???????? 111!!! :-|

Well this is a basket case that i bought that was completely disassembled. It's has a 86 frame that already had the motor and t150 installed with this skid plate. Maybe this is a different skid plate. I'll have to compare it to my other cj7. You would think i already checked that  :banghead:

There are 2 skid plates for the CJ5 and CJ7. The 1st was used from 76-79 with the t-150, t-18, and TH400, along with either the Model 20 or q-trak t-cases. It hangs a little lower and the front and rear edges are straight across. The 80-up crossmember was used with the t-176 and whatever auto they used (TF908 or 999?) and the Dana 300. It is more "form fitting". It doesn't hang as low on the driver side, but has a lower area under the t-case. The early one is probably what you need, but the later one can be modified to fit. I have a later one under my 77 CJ for a little more clearance (with t-18 and Dana 300), but it did take a little cutting and welding.
