do yall think with the right fan setup you could use a stock radiator for the 304 on a 401? Right now it's got big Chrysler radiator in it that sticks up about 3 inches above the grill.

You could probably get away with it.. but if you look usually they list a "Heavy duty radiator" option in the parts books.. like with air conditioning or towing package.. I have a J-10 that was a 6 cyl truck and the radiator opening is smaller than on a V-8 truck, but by finding the heavy duty 3 row for the 6 my 360 runs cool.. now if I had A/C on this truck it might be marginal..

Factory 304 radiators were 2 core, it would be marginal at best. Most replacements are at least 3 core. The heavy duty ones have more fins/inch or 4 cores. If you look on ebay, 3 core replacements aren't that expensive. Better safe than sorry with cooling.

Well guess what. I didn't really pay much attention when I bought the radiator (I bought it new for the 304) and just assumed it was same as stock. Turns out it's a 3 core.

As long as it's fairly new, not corroded or plugged, you should be good to go. :!:
