I am ready to fire my 360 this weekend. 2 questions

1 what is the torque spec for bridged rockers (folcrum style with bolt that threads into head) i have read anywhere from 28-35 lbs and 65-70 lbs.. sounds way to much to me.. anyone confirm?

2 should i re-torque the heads after cam break in?

The rocker bridges are like 20-25 lb-ft.

Get a Haynes manual from the local auto parts store. They list all the torque specs.

My Motors book:1974-1979 304, 360 rocker arm shaft bracket 19 ft lb*
* = Rocker arm cap screw
I am using roller rockers, they don’t get done the same way.

What did the head gasket mfg say? My Fel Pro did not say any thing about re-torque, also do not remember any thing in my motors & Chiltons books about this either.
No I have not re-torqued my 360 heads (291) and it has maybe half hour more run time after cam break in. I had to do break in in 2 steps as Tstat made temp get to 240+ that made the radiator blow out so temp got to 220 second time, replaced radiator and ran till temp got to 160+ checking/repairing leaks.
To re-torque heads don’t the exh. manifolds/headers have to come off?
This is my take on it others may be diferent.

My Chilton: 1968-1970 Rocker arm assy or stud nuts 20-25 ft lb this is not a bridge rocker assy.
The 19 ft lb is a bridge assy.
Any one else have more to add?

It will be a go! You got to think positive :lo1l:
If you have not done it yet and I am thinking not because of rocker torque speck needed, Pre lube motor. I setup my rockers first and left covers off filled pan with oil (have extra, a dry motor takes a lot!) turned oil pump over with drill and long screw driver shaft till oil came out push rods/rockers, turn motor over ¼ turn by hand and did the drill thing again. I did this till motor was back to TDC and oil out all rods & rockers.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

For 74-91 it's 1972-73 was the years I was missing, well I may have it in the shop and the motors book went back to 74.
I guess we need to know what year the heads are
