Camshaft Keys

Hey guys,
Does anybody know where I can find a new key for a 304 camshaft? I lost one of the two and cant seem to find one anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway hardware, nuts/bolt store should have them... I have a $h!t-ton of keys (various sizes) in my box... If you give me the size of it I can have a couple in the mail tomorrow... Which should take a day or two to get to you... it would be easier and faster to go to a hardware store and just ask and bring the one you have and match it.

I thought they were soft. I've bugered'em up before trying to get'em out.

Round here parts stores carry DOORMAN Car part fasteners
and they make'em. Early Crank Key is same a long SBC style.

Cam Keys are 5/32, unlike SBC which are 3/16.

Me thinks the DOORMAN 5/32 Cam Key part number is #595-059.

.157 wide x .670 long x .237 tall

Crank Key Early = #595-077 - .188 W x 1.377 L x .394 T

Crank Key Late = #595-078 - .188 W x 1.807 L x .299 T
( this one's a wierd shape with a "stepped" bottom )

Some Chevy small blocks use (2) small Crank Keys rather than (1) long one.

Short SBC Crank Key = #595-061 = .188 W x .728 L x .301 T
( these short crank keys are the ones also used in the SBC Cams )

Do they's got DOORMAN parts at your local Car Parts stores ?

ever looked at getting OFFSET CAM KEYS produced for AMC's ???

One can use the Chevy offset CRANK Keys in AMC if needs be,
but not in AMC Cams since they're smaller, 5/32 rather than 3/16.

i think they are soft they're there to keep the sprocket from spinning on the can but also to let it spin if something should happen to make the cam stop spinning so you dont get more broken parts then you have to.
