Gear Vendors Overdrive. As some of you know, and other may not, I run a GearVendors Overdrive on that back of my AMC T-10. Whichs is a direct bolt on to the T-10. It has been beat on for 5 years, drag race, autocrossed and driven long distances. The wonderful thing about it is it can be kicked in at anything over 20 mph, and has a cpu that governs this.
My AMX runs 3:54 out back and once in 4th gear then I kick in the overdrive. It drops 26 percent in rpm, roughly 1000 rpm off your engine speed at 80 mph. This equates to running 2:64 gears and getting 20 MPG out of your non-stock 12 second car. The unit I put on was a custom fabricated for AMC by GearVendors. Out of the Blue I was called by The President of Gear Venders, Rick Johnson. We talked for a number of minutes. They now have a on the shelf unit for your AMC and he is ready to hear from those who have a T-10 sitting on the bench and want this conversion. Bear in mind this unit will handle 1200 horsepower, so your not going to break it. And going from 10 mpg to 20 mpg on the highway and saving your motor by cutting it usage by 1/4th rpm will make it last longer too.
Also the GearVendors unit is not only a overdrive but a gear splitter, you can run 1, 2nd or 3rd with the overdrive on too......so say your toodling down the road in 4th gear overdrive, leave in overdrive and just manually shift into 3rd gear, which will be 3rd gear over drive.
The overdrive is a electronically controlled, push the button unit. In and out. Since you retain your stock 4spd not a wider gate of 5 or 6spd, you dont have the wide gate that causes missed shifts either.
Call Gear Vendors today 619-855-1525 or call me and I will give you more info too on my unit.

hmmmm, I wonder if they have any units to fit in between a 727 and d300. Would be sweet to run one in my CJ with 4.88's and 37's! :t:

Will have to do some browsing..........

"Direct bolt-on"

Do you mean no adapters of any kind are required?

Thanks

no adapters needed, the gV overdrive comes with everthing you need, new tail shaft with GV bolt on area-provision.
The GV is about 2500 bucks last time I checked.
Im still beating the snot outta mine after 7 years and it holds up to DRag racing, autocrossing etc. Nice way to stay with stock shifter and not butcher the trans tunnel....or your car for that matter ...........

Just FYI, one for the 727/D300 would also fit the FSJs with 727 and NP tcases.
