building a '78 360 with 401 crankshaft - > just run AMC 401
length rods with Honda size big ends - reduces throw weight -

Lots of mfgs make these rods but you wont find one in a std 401 length. You are better off running a longer rod and a shorter compression height piston. If you dont mind 30% block fill you can have your cylinders bored out to 4.165 (stock 401) if it is a older block (the ones without the freeze plugs in the back (still will have the cam plug)) and run a 401 rod and piston. Keep in mind the 360 block doesnt have notched cylinders like the 401 blocks so some grinding will have to be done in order to run a 401 crank and rods or a 401 crank and any rod.
