Edelbrock dual plane and Holley 670 or less vac secondary carb? If 9:1 compression or less, Engle 35018H or 5052H for cam.

New timing chain, seals, gaskets (.045t head gasket), bearings.

If new pistons, close the quench distance to .045 by obtaining zero deck clearance and using .045 head gasket. Don't go much over 9:1 compression.

Thorley Tri-Y Headers or free flow AMC exhaust manifolds.

For 82 Waggy:

You mentioned the .045 thich head gaskets, what is the thickness of the off the shelf Fel Pros?

Not sure about the Felpro head gasket thickness but somebody else probably knows.

I personally prefer the Victor Reinz graphite coated, followed by the Corteco White Seal or the ROL - all of these are approximately .045 compressed thickness.

PS: My 401 has a little pitting on the decks around the water passages that did not completely disappear after milling .007 off, so I will probably use the Corteco on this motor.

My 390 is perfect so I will probably use the Victor here. 6 of one half dozen of the other really.

Pretty close to .045 if I recall when I measured ours after tearing it apart. I'm not sure if having had them installed with the heads torqued down, then removed counts as "compressed" though.

Not too far from Middletown, PA either. Fuzz can tell you all the things you should do, and we got all the things you shouldn't do covered, ha, ha.

I'm pretty sure on the ROL page it says thier head gaskets are .039 compressed thickness.

Understanding is the Fel Pros are .045 but haven't found it on the web.

There was some question about the acuracy of thickness spec of the ROL gasket a while back. I think it is a typo.
