Hello,
is 40 over to much for the 360? Are silvolite piston anygood?They have hasting #. Should i just go 30 over and be done with it i thought 40 over was a little much. It is a early 80s block

A 360 should go .040 with no problems. It's always worth the money to have the block sonic checked first, both for peace of mind, and to know you aren't wasting money on machining.

I think the Silvolite pistons are cast. I have no experience with them, but they are usually OEM quality. Probably OK for a stock or very mild performance rebuild. If you're going to build an engine to beat on, spend the money for forged pistons.
