Well i have my fresh rebuilt 360 in the jeep and its running great. i have only one concern and that is my oil pressure. Cold the pressure is great nice and high. once it is hot.. at idle i get just under 20 psi and as rpms increse so does the pressure. at about 2000rpm i have just above 40psi. i talked to a few people around town here and say that sounds alright. im not overly familiar with the amc's and figured id ask here. if the 20 is low id think it is probably wear from the original timing cover, the builder said that it was in spec. but just thought id ask the people who know

thanks in advance
Pat

Sounds fine...what oil and wieght are you using? :t:

If you want more pressure try some Mobile 1. You'll see and increase in idle pressure and shorten the time you see pressure on start up.

I run a bottle of cam break in lube from Crane with my Moblie 1 also to add a little extra protection for the cam. (high lift and spring pressure)

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you have 15 or better at idle. Otherwise use the old rule of thumb...10PSI of every 1000RPM. Anything more you are waisting hp and wearing the dissy gear.

I have a Indy cover and high volume pump and limit it to around 70 cold 60 to 65 hot...hot idle it can go as low as 20 to 25PSI...but that's Syn. oil also. This pump can go well above 100PSI...but why?? 111!!!

My CJ runs about 20-25 PSI hot idle, and 50-55 PSI at driving RPM (2500-3000). All with an ORIGINAL 1974 cover and gears. The only thing I've replaced is the filter adapter and relief spring.

mine might be a little low with 45-50 cold and 15-20 hot about 35 hot while cruising at 2000RPM. rebuilt motor with stock pump housing new gears and midplate.
