I'm guessing - there's roughly a 15 lb. difference between
the 360 vs 401 crankshafts ?

:idea: 304/360 crank weighs 53 pounds on a bathroom scale.

It makes sense seeing that the 304/360 cranks are cast and the 401 cranks are forged... :?

So.......... a 70 lbs. frontal weight savings running a 360 vs 401 -
as block is 60 lbs. lighter than a 401.

360 is good to 500HP / 401 good to 600HP.

I'm shooting for somewhere near 500 HP with my current 360 build.
It is a 343 block .030 over with a 304/360 crank offset .010 to 3.46 Stroke.
Compression will be near 10.0:1 whereas before is was near 9.0:1
The motor made 425 HP before the CR bump and advancing the cam,
based on car weight and speed in the 1/4, 20% loss, and chassis dyno.
Time will tell what it actually makes and how long it lasts.

I can't remeber the formula that relates HP-RPM-Torque ?
to figure out how many lbs/ft at 5500 rpm yields 500 HP #-o

Horsepower = Torque x RPM / 5252

Looks like you'll need 477 lb/ft at 5500 to get 500 horsepower. Cant wait to see what you end up getting.
