1. What is the length of the T-176 4sp tranny?

2. What is the length of the TF-999 3sp auto tranny?

I just went to bolt up my front stock CJ DS & I am 2 1/2" short, the rear looks fine.

Info: CJ-8--360-TF-999-D-300 to a D-30 front axle.

Do U think a small lift is needed?

Below are some mock up pictures. I jumped up & down & added weight to see if it would hit but I couldn't tell, in real life situstions it just might but maybe w/the correct bump stop it would be fine.

Note: No shocks or bump stop installed yet.

Note relationship from DS to pan.

Ya think a 2" or 4" lift would take care of it? I would rather stay as low as I can since I will have a 1"BL on it as well.

Thanks,
Jim

I had a 727, but was running aroun 9~10" of lift so I didn't have a problem. I know with a 727 it is recommended to run around a 4" lift.

I would say run a 2" lift and get rid of the body lift IMHO, but that's just me and they don't let me out that often.

So U think a 2" lift will seperate it enough?

I also know that for YJ's and TJ's there is a flat belly skid kit out that you have to run a 1" body lift and 1" engine motor mount lift with. I haven't scene them for CJ's but might just be enough to help clear if you have the fab skills. Do you plan on doing a lot of flexing/off roading with this CJ or will it be mostly a street Jeep?

It will be an all around Jeep, mud, sand & water. I don't like rocks to much.

In that case I would say that a 2" and ditch the body lift and you'll be fine (and bump stops). Anyone care to object???
