Hold on that does not seem right, I have weighed my 73 CJ5 full of gas and our certified scale says 1980 lbs. We are talking about 1ton difference and I relized that I have a fiberglass body but I will bet a dollar to a donut that the metal body did not weigh a ton. Just my 2cent worth..

1980 doesn't sound right. Someone over on Jeeps Unlimited said their CJ7 is stamped GVW 4150, so he's figuring it vehicle weight is about 3700.

Fuzz has done everything to get his weight down, and he's at 3300. Bet he'd kill though to be at 1980, ha, ha.

We've added a lot of weight with the Dana 60's, HMMWV wheels, custom heavy skid plate, big Tuffy tool security drawer full of tools, etc., OBA, extra heavy duty 1410 long travel driveshafts, etc., etc.

I have an all factory steel 76 Cj-5 with a 360, dana 44 rear, 15x10 steel wheels with 33/12.5/15 BFG all terrain tko tires and it came in at 3480lbs. on a certified truck scale with about a 1/3 tank of gas. If there is a cj out there under 2000lbs.... I'm confused!

My Excursion is a little on the heavy side of 8,837 lbs...With about 1/8 tank... (I can't imagine what it would be with the 42 gallon tank full.) I also have a 6" Fabtech lift and 35" tires... So that probably aded a little over 100lbs  then you figure about 450 lbs of people in it, (Me my ole' lady and my two boys, 3ys & 2yrs)... tools/emergancy air etc in the back... I'm looking at almost 9,500. No wonder the gas is alway gone assoon as I put it in... (500 miles and she's drained next to Empty).
