I had my engine floored to like 6 grand and blew my heater core, any reasons why, should i bother replace it with a stock one or upgrade. It was really cool atleast!

Sounds like it was a gas

You either had a bad hose and it blew hot or you now have a blown head gasket.

what would a heater core have to do with a head gasket, the engine didnt overheat like 190 degree the whole time, but i seldom ever get on it like i did when it blew.

Blew my core last month, I don't think the stock 27 year old heater core could take the pressure of the water pump at WOT. Either that or is cracked when I hit the berm in the mud pit.

Kinda curious about the head gasket thing as well.

What did you replace it with or are you deciding not to. I cant tolerate no heat in Michigan

It's not a winter rig so I will probably not replace it anytime soon.

I am planning on a glass tub swap in the future, so I will replace it then.

I had a couple of cores leak over the years. When I did the last one, the guy at the parts store told me it was from too much water flow thru the core, since Jeeps always flow. He sold me a restrictor, just a small brass fitting that went in the heater hose between the water pump and heater core. I.D. is around 3/8". Haven't lost a core since, and I still get plenty of heat.

Ill try something like that, the heater core was only 40 bucks lifetime warranty at murrays, I went out to a boat store and bought a blower (used in boats for getting the fumes from the engine out) and im going to use it to add more jazz to my heater.

blown head gasket would cause combustion gasses to leak into the water jacket causing the pressure to increase to a point that will open your radiator cap blow a hose or blow your radiator or heater core.

That makes sense. :t:
