Just wondering if anyone has checked into casting a stock timing chain cover out of cast iron? Don't know what the cost would be, but I am sure milling one out of steel is not cheep.

Why add the weight??? Look at the difference between the cast iron intake and a good AL unit!!!!!

Maybe just cast the oil pump cavity out of iron.

Bolt it on, line up with pins...But then again the billet one is looking Bada$$ :lo1l:

Our plan is to make a steel removable oil pump on a 2 piece timing cover. This is happening before the end of the year.

I wasn't real concerned about weight,(and I'm sure a billet is not light) just looking for good oil pump at a reasonable price.
I'm all about some custom cool parts made for amc engines...but I'm sure that most people don't have the bank account to afford some of these parts (well at least I don't). And if you have to spend big money for a custom made oil pump for your everyday driver or weekend off road trail rig...well some people might be temped to install (excuse my french) a chevy engine. SBC's and parts are cheep.
I just thought if they can cast aluminum covers why not iron.
