engine cooling

hello i notice in my new 360 that when i hit the gas my upper rad. hose colapse running a 3 core 160 degree thermostat. does not run hot at all. any ideas. by the way i go to the dyno next sat.

shouldnt the upper hose be under pressure from the waterpump pushing the water through the hose and the lower one under suction from the pump?

Yeah, thought the lower hose had a spring inside cause it was under suction, not the top hose. You running stock belts and pulleys ? stock water pump ? wonder if impeller is wrong and flow is reversed ? Still running the bypass hose ?

thats a good point, I sorta missed the top hose thing..youmight want to check the rotation.. the top hose should be under pressure..

mine does not run hot at all 160 degree thermostat she runs 180 in the heat of the day 165 at night im going to put a180 in for the winter

I've got a .060 304 in a 80 CJ-5 w/ a new 3 core rad, all new hoses, and highflow pump. 195 t-stat and when it gets round 230 or so it'll suck shut........buy another new hose from NAPA and if it still sucks shut then use some zip-ties or good MSHA electrical tape and wrap the kink point where it sucks shut

you could put the spring in it to be safe but i don't see why it would suck shut when it gets hot.
