Never heard this word before, (WardsAuto.com (http://wardsauto.com/) Wed 9/12/2007 4:10 AM) but I guess most of us could be called . . A Mechatron :-| #-o

Mechatronics is centred on mechanics, electronics and computing which, combined, make possible the generation of simpler, more economical, reliable and versatile systems (systems not Jeeps! :? ). The portmanteau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmanteau) (another cool word :t: ) "Mechatronics" was first coined by Mr. Tetsuro Mori, a senior engineer of the Japanese company Yaskawa, in 1969. Mechatronics may alternatively be referred to as "electromechanical systems" or less often as "control and automation engineering".

And I've voted once already today - Have you??http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/muscle.gif

Ahhhhhhh I have been living that word for 3 months, a good example of that is the "Throttle by Wire" system I have on my new Jeep

Here's a pic of the throttle body

And to do that on the bench takes half a new Jeep wiring harness, 4 desktop PC's and 6 K of support equipment and don't forget a 12 volt NAPA battery Lol

And the final thing, this processor is a Freescale 5554 it has over 6 millon switches and inside is all the Chrysler vehicle tuning from 2003 Cummins Diesel tunes and Neon SRT4 Supercharger fuel and ignition tables to 2007 Jeep Cherokee and JK Gas and Diesel tunes and yes the V 10 Viper tunes are in there too. All in a chip 1 inch by 1 inch by 1/8 "inch thick and yes it runs the throttle too

So, what you're saying about that chip, is that Chrysler put all those tunes in one chip and each car just uses the portion that it needs to?

I could understand doing that to cut production costs, but what if some mad scientist was able to decode.... Wait. That's YOU!

Awesome work dude. A bunch of wires splayed out on a desk may not look very pretty, but damn impressive work you're doing!

=D>
