On the '74 AMX Javelin they had as an option a engine block heater (600 watt). Is there any way to get one or is there something on the market for the 258 I-6?

Go to a parts store and buy a freeze plug block heater; that's the type used on the factory install. Measure the size of your block plugs, drain some anti-freeze, remove the freeze plug, and install the plug heater. These have a rubber grommet that tightens and seals the block hole. If you don't want to pull a freeze plug, there are some that go inline on a heater hose that heat and circulate the water/coolant through the block.
