Well Peaches '86 CJ finally is about to blow a front brake line, it's starting to bulge so I need to replace it. I guess I'll go to NAPA & get one, I hope they know the right thread end/diameter.
Simple questions but one I really never paid much attention to.
1. How long is a stock brake line? If memory serves I think they are 17", but the DS & PS are different.
2. W/a stock configuration, how long can I go before it gets in the way (i.e.) hitting the tire etc. 2" longer?

Well NAPA doesn't have any & the place I had a link for is no longer & the link does not work. Besides 4WDH etc. does anyone have a link for brake lines that are reasonable, NAPA wants $26.79ea, for stock ones. Would like to get some 20" ones for her stock application.

Wont napa make you one? Or perhaps a company like Pirtek.

Never thought of that, I'll have to ask them.

The Trailer rebuild guys down the road have DOT approved hoses in various lengths - I was looking there before I knew the lift kit came with them.

Well I got them from Advanced & they honored rock autos price  . I was shocked.
So for 15 bucks each (instead of 22-28bucks @various stores) I replaced them today.
Here are the steps to replace your CJ front brake hoses. Thanks for the help Donald :!:
First U have to get the shirt on :rof:

Remove old brake hose. If U can't get the 3/8" line wrench on the spring side of the hard line just use a small flat screw driver & slide the hard line spring back, then the wrench will fit.

Now I use a vacuum pump to suck all the air out of the system. Keep a watch on the master cylinder because the vacuum pump sucks it down pretty quick.
