ok this is what i got when i dropped the pan and pulled the filter. first question which im sure the answer is yes. 1. should i rebuild this it only has 10k on it? 2. should i swap to something heavier duty its in my jeep cj behind a 360? 3. should i just clean it up and go with it? 4. do i need to get a new convertor if i rebuild or can i flush the old one. as far as swapping i am looking at a lot of money i know these trans can hold up to alot of power so what is the deal. shoudl i put higher quality clutches in it or get a 727 also can a 904 be turned into a 727 or not? thanks for the input.

The important thing is...was it working well before? If it was run it till it dies after changing the filter that is.

i think a small piece of metal may have got into the govenor because it wasnt downshifting into first when stopping thats why i opened it up to start with. i was told to clean the govenor by a local trans shop. that is when i found this.

I'd flush it well to remove all the shavings and run it till it pops then swap something stronger in. like a 727 or a th400 if your set on a slushbox. If not then a t18 or nv4500 or something simiilar would be best.
