If the bolt pattern is the same, why not? I've put V8 clutches on my 258's before.

Even if it bolts up I would suspect that it won't have enough pressure to hold the torque of the mighty 304?

i did the opposite with a v8 pressure plate on the 258. they should be the same part and if its a rebuild they probably dont distinguish between the two engines. should work perfectly

ya know....the more i think about it....in an ol CJ-7 i got w/o a title it had a 360 with an TF999....it was shot so i swaped in a t-4 from my buddies jeep and actually used his flywheel and used my warrenty on a previous clutch and used one from the I-6.....i dont think there is a difference in the clutches but the thing that seems to baffle me now is how a I-6 flywheel didn't vibrate like a sum bitch :-| #-o i think i need to stop drinkin  #-o

Now that you guys bring it up... I swapped the 6 for a 360 in the J-10 and ordered the same 6 cyl clutch for the truck (T-176 not T-177 trans.. (Don't ask I was young and stupid, Moved mounts forward 4" instead of finding the longer input shaft t-177).. and have had no trouble for 10 years or so..
