I am looking for an AMC Torque plate for honing a block. Is there someone who rents them?

I have both called and emailed Bulltear, but he must be out of town or something cause no one has gotten back with me.

I don't know if MC has one or not.

Check

http://theamcforum.com/forum/default.asp or

http://amccars.net/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl

Someone on one or the other has one that he will rent with a deposit and the cost of shipping.

Ed we got your messages but we cannot locate our aluminum torque plate. If you need us to make one we can do it without much trouble...I think you might have $125 into one.

MC - How much for a cast iron or steel one?

Steel one might be around $200. Cast iron isnt something we have readily available. If you find a source for blanks let me know. Dwight if you need one let me know. I dont think the torque plate material matters much unless your pre-heating it. The cylinders should see the same deformation from aluminum or cast iron.

Steel and cast iron are practically the same. They need to be at least 1 1/2" thick from my experience. The aluminum ones I have used on BBC in the past do not distort the same as the ferrous ones. I would pay $200 for a steel one 1 1/2" to 2" thick.

I worked with a BBC steel plate that was 1" thick and I could never get it to distort the block the same as bolting on a head.

Maybe it is the pre-heating that makes the difference; I did not think about that.
