These are NOS Arias forged pistons with pins. There are 8 of them and they were originally designed for 232/258 6 cylinders. However, I have compared them to a V8 cylinder head and they should also work for a 290 or 304. They are 1.595" compressed height and 3.810" bore (+.060") with a .150" dome and nice deep valve pockets. These would male HIGH static compression. In a 6 cylinder, I estimate something like 13:1, but since I don't know the exact volume of the dome, I can't nail it exactly. I contacted arias with the job number off the box and they said that the number is too long ago for them to still have on record. The pistons have some lightening work under the dome.

I was going to build a 6 cylinder drag motor, but have since changed my mind and need to money for my 401 project.

Hi,
I'm interested in more information on these. Is the 1.595" c/d to top of the dome or to the flat where the dome begins?

I notice that the dome is fully round, which makes me think that it would fit the older lower compression 232/258 heads, that have the full round combustion chamber (not the later 9.2:1 heads that came out in the 1980's with a D-shape chamber).

This makes me think that they might not fit 290/304 heads that have a D-shaped chamber.

If they would fit a V8, I might be interested in them for my 304 build up. Can you email me more pics of them at amundaza@yahoo.com ? Thanks!

Just a quick follow up showing the comparison of the older 232/258 heads and the 304 heads. See the attached pic.

Assuming that these have approximately -15cc's for the dome, they would make 11.46:1 with the 74cc early 1980's head.

With the 62cc heads they would make 13.6:1 compression.Sincerely,
