What's the difference between the 360 head #323 3344, and the 401 head # 322 0502? I'm a new guy, learning as he goes. Thanks in advance.

The 360 casting number would have bridged rockers. The 401 casting number would have individual stud mounted rockers.

nothing at all both heads are briged rockers

So, if the specs are the same, and they are both bridged rockers, why the different casting number? Bolt holes for accessories? Runners?

You're right ... I just rechecked my specs list and stand corrected. I was thinking of the 090 castings instead of the 502. Thanks for the clear up.

360/401 and 70 390 can use the same heads just the way AMC did it

The 502 head started in 74, the first bridged head. The 344 came out in the late 70s (78-79?), right after unleaded gas was made mandatory. Specs are the same on the heads, but my guess is they changed the hardening process on the exhaust valve seats for unleaded gas. I've never had a problem running either number on unleaded, although I do have hardened seats put in my performance 291 heads just for peace of mind.
