My 401 has estimated 11.5-12:1 compression, .520 lift cam-- I'm wondering what would be your first choice for a carburetor. This is in a Jeep, will be used for offroad, I'm not a big fan of radical inclines, so I dont really care about fuel injection.

I'm looking more for a CFM recommendation, not a carburetor brand because everyone has their opinions on which brand is best, yatta yatta.

Thanks!

What kind of fuel do you run in that thing with that kind of compression?

well it fired a few times on 93 octane and a really messed up holley 750 , so it only ran for maybe 30 seconds on 40% throttle then would die, but i think for the break-in process wit my new carb, ill run whats left in the tank of 93 octane (maybe 2 gal) and just fill up with 100 octane or higher and see how she does :lo1l:

I'd say 101-103 octane and she'll run, providing it's mechanically sound... 93 octane on 11.5-12:1 cr.... Please let me know how you do it... my 360 is 10.5 maybe a little higher and she doesn't like 93 etc... 100+ and she's sweet!!!

with the right cam (something that doesnt build a lot of cylinder pressure) and conservative timing it should run but definately not to its full potential. :lo1l:
