My first is the one I still have. 1977 Jeep CJ7. My dad bought it from a friend in March of 1978 with 8000 miles, during a particularly snowy winter when he had a long commute. It quickly (about 2 months) became obvious to him that it didn't fit his needs, and he started looking to trade it for a 4x4 truck, but by then I was in love with it (I was 18 ). I begged and pleaded with my folks to let me buy it, and they finally gave in. Gave them the same $1000 my dad had put down on it (nearly my entire life savings), and got their loan transferred into my name (with them co-signing).

There have been at least 5 other CJs, and a couple of Wagoneers, but I've always kept this one. It even spent about 18 months apart in 3 different sheds around 1984 for rust repair and an engine rebuild when I was a broke newlywed.

It was always a joke with my ex that I had it before she came into my life, and I'd have it after she was gone. Little did I know how true that would be! She hated my Jeep (mostly the money I spent on it). She knew how much the Jeep meant and tried a lot of things during the divorce to force me to sell it, but I still have it.

My first, a chocolate brown 69 CJ-5 with a buick v-6 and a 4 spd. 3 in of suspention lift and some body lift. also a full cage.
I drove this Jeep in 1983 from Pensacola Fla. to Cedar Rapids Ia. A little over 1100 miles (I'll never try that again) and had many interesting adventures in it!
Since then I have had approx 20 different CJs. Right now I have 2 and neither run.

My First Jeep was an 1982 CJ7 with a late 70's 304, T18 granny, 9" rear, 44 front, 35 BFG's, 3" BL, Tilt Steering, Bucket seats... It was faded red (almost a pinkish color), primer gray, white and rust due to the North Eastern PA Mud stuck in all of the corners and crevices... The 304's cam lobes where almost rounded and the only reason the valves "worked" was due to the valve springs being so worn... lol it was a noise motor but it got me around....
Since then, I've had 2 82 CJ7's... 1 1980 CJ7's... and 2 1984 CJ7's... and these two that I have now the 1980 and the latest 1982 CJ7 I'll most likely have for a minute... :t:

First Jeep - Blue 72 CJ-5, 350 4-bolt main. I could get a 3 gear wheelie before replacing the u-joint 111!!!

I had to give it up in 1980 though - rolled it end over end jumping off a sand dune in Anza-Borrego Springs  The frame was U-shaped, both axles broke, windshield folded back (on my white knuckles hanging onto the steering wheel!!) and the arch in the roll-bar was arched the wrong direction. #-o

I was only able to salvage the 8274 off it and put it on the Scrambler. I told the insurance CO I wanted to buy it back, but they 'sold' it saying they never heard from me. I had over 3-Large in the engine, back in the 70's that was some coinage!!!

First 4X4 though was a Green FJ40,
First stuck, 158 miles on the clock. Took my GF and I about 3 hours before we opened the door and go for help http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/ban-hump.gif

THOSE were the good old days!!!

My first Jeep was a model of a CJ5 when I was 4 years old, I still have a piece of it somewhere.
My first driver was a 1965 Tuxado Park CJ5 3 on the tree with a single lever spicer 18 Tcase and high ratio 4.27 gears.
I have had over a 100 Jeeps since then and currently make do with 4 running CJ7s, a ultra nice 85 J20 (4 sale), various other frames, axles, trannys, parts waggys and the wifes Rubi.
