they will run much better with more advance than stocke spec. I usually run 10degrees base some people run as much as 15. it all depends on what your total advance is and what your starter will turn and what your engine will tolerate

I ran 15 base and total of 36 @ 2000 rpm

My AMX runs well at 14 initial and 34 total, in by 3000.
