If you do a search on this forum you should be able to find all of the needed info.. If not, somebody will chime in and help out... If you still can't find what you are looking for check out www.jeepsunlimited.com and do a search there....

Only if you have the flexplate rebalanced. AMC V8s are externally balanced, so you need a flexplate and harmonic balancer specific to the displacement. A 360 flexplate on a 401 could cause some serious vibration problems.

I think a 401/727 flexplate is available thru most auto parts stores for under $50. Go with a 74-up 401 powered AMC car for application.

Thanks for the qwick response, just one more question, I checked with Advance auto and they do carry flexplates for a 1974 Matador, but there is no way to know if it is using a TF 727 or the TH400, They list three seperate plates, just want to be sure to order the right one. does anyone know what tranny the Matador used??? Thanks again

Pretty sure all cars used the 727 or 998, which use the same flexplate. Only the Wagoneers used the TH400. The 727 flexplate is near solid and has 4 converter bolt holes. The TH400 flexplate has 3 "arms" and has 3 converter bolt holes.

I think you're safe ordering anything for a 401 powered CAR.
